I’ve lived here for about 30 years and my goals are to make sure that 30 years from now that my children have a substantial evidences that their ancestors have history in the U.S. Positive experiences and monumental events are important as we are in a process of living and making history. Where does it begin? How can we all bring our people together and work toward some form of common goals for the community?

What will it take for the elder generation to listen and what will it take for the younger generation to understands?

Nang12 or the 12thDaughter as the tale I remember hearing when I was child. I believe the moral of the story is not to have too many children that you cannot support. The story begins with a couple who have 12 daughters. They were very poor, so, one day, they let loose of all their children in the wood. The story went on to tell about each of the daughter and their characters of greeds, dumb, and wise and how they survived the wild forest. (I guess I have to watch Thai movie about it…I heard that they made movie out of it.) I believe at the end, the 12th day ended up with a wealthy man and lived every after.

This blog hopes to take a twist of that story…by gathering our mothers, aunts, and grandmothers stories of how they survived the refugee lives, struggled through ghettos of America, acculturated and assimilated in the lifestyles of their third world.
